Garden Flowers - How to Grow and Maintain Spectacular Flowers

Plants and flowers are the most important parts of many gardens. Buying plants and flowers is very expensive, so it is important to make sure your flowers are healthy and live as long as possible. Another benefit is that your home or garden will look great when entertaining guests.

But how to make flowers last longer?

Pruning

Pruning dried flowers or dead parts of the plant will ensure that the flower regains its strength and will not waste use fewer resources on spent (dead) flowers. Not only does it enhance the visual beauty of the flowers, but it also encourages the flowering plant to create new growth.

It is a continuous process that helps to prolong the life of the plant and improves the flowering process.

Some people think that buying a flower or a plant is enough, just put it in a nice planter or vase and leave it there. However, continuous care is needed to prevent premature death of plants and flowers' precious waste.

In some cases, you may have to make the difficult decision to prune most of the flowering plant to its center, especially if the plant is weak. After doing this, water and nutrients (in powder or liquid form) strengthen the plant and give it new life to produce new flowers.

Look for unwanted plants or seedlings that grow around your flower because they carry away important nutrients from the main flowering plant.

Irrigation

Each flowering plant needs water at different stages. Mexican petunias (Ruellia Simplex) and Winca flowers (Madagascar Periwinkle) like a lot of water. Very good, especially in hot weather. Others, such as Sophora prostrate (Little Baby), do not like to sit in the water during the dormant, cold months and may die in the wet.

Most flowers and plants do not have a pre-determined amount of watering, and you need to consider the climate, temperature, zones, and current conditions. For example, roses need water 3 times a week. If it is too hot or too dry, add a little more water to help the plant and its flowers. Brown spent the flowers to be beautiful and healthy.

The general rule of thumb is to water the plants and flowers when the soil dries to touch using a finger test. Place your finger 2 or 3 inches in the soil and if it feels dry, pour water over the plant. Keep in mind that some flowers grown from seed require regular watering in the early stages of growth.

Nevertheless, flowers that grow in pots, for example, hoys, have good drainage holes in the bottom of the pot or make sure the container has plenty of water to flow freely. Some flowers and bulbs, for example, narcissus, are not harmful by occasionally drying the soil between watering sessions. Meats, which usually require little irrigation, can also produce some incredible flowers.

Compost

Fertilizers are a way to improve and strengthen your plants. I use Miracle-Crow plant food and it works well. Alternatively, you can offer some iron or plant tonic to enhance bloom. Be sure to follow the exact instructions and dosage as listed on the product packaging.

Sunlight

Most flowers and plants need light to bloom. However, too strong direct sun can damage and burn the flowers. From experience, I find the best setting is to place the flowers in a place where they can get a lot of light and heat from the sun, but at the same time be protected from sunlight most (or all) of the time.

I find that the combination of strong light, warmth, and shade gives the best results for flowers that are beautiful throughout the year.

Time

Planting flowers depends on the climate and zone in which you live, so not all flowers have a fixed schedule. In the South Mediterranean, for example, Malta, October is a good time to plant orchids. Lily.

Pots

When growing flowers in a pot or container, make sure the size is large enough for the future growth of the plant. Take care not to damage the root ball when planting or transferring from one pot to another.

Another important component is that the pot has good drainage holes at the bottom the pot so that excess water can drain out easily. From time to time make sure that the drain holes are not clogged. One way to do this is to place a few rocks above the holes in the bottom of the soil.

However, make sure that the rocks do not block the holes. If you have your plant or flower inside, it is a good idea to get a tray or saucer to collect the water that comes out of the pot or container.

You can also consider vertical gardens to give a special feel to your home and garden.

Keep flowers happy and healthy, in return, they will live longer and you can enjoy your home and garden beautifully and incredibly. Happy gardening!
